Scattered Shots of Three Rivers

Sequoia National Park, Three Rivers, CA
Flowing from its 12,000' elevation headwaters in the Sequoia National Park, the Kaweah is ideal for hardy and adventurous folks in good physical condition and with good swimming ability. One of America's steepest rivers, the Kaweah in its first few miles has wild whitewater with many rapids like Powerhouse, Suicide Falls, and others. After a calm stretch through the town of Three Rivers, the pace picks up as you take on the "Slickies," (a unique river feature you'll always remember) which is a polished granite slalom that surfs one way, then another, while swirling around. With southern California close-by, the Kaweah offers a great opportunity to combine a whitewater adventure with an excursion to the majestic trees and mountains of the Sequoia-Kings Canyon National Park.
