A full moon over Kaweah Lake in the summer. Kaweah means 'raven' in the native American language who lived here 150 years ago. The lake is stocked with trout, and rental houseboats are available here. The dam here collects the drainage of most of the west slope of the Sierra Nevada crest. It is almost empty in the fall, and rapidly fills up when the snow in the mountains melts.
